PRESIDENT'S WELCOME

Welcome to the University of Wollongong Law Students’ Society and Our Website!

You are either about to join a cohort of 350 people starting their journey as a first year law student at UOW or already part of our talented pool of almost 2000 law students studying at UOW. When you graduate you will join thousands of UOW Law alumni who have gone on to pursue outstanding careers locally, nationally and internationally.

At the University of Wollongong, we learn not only about the law, but also about the real-world application of the law. Our School of Law is committed to teaching excellence and engaging students in a practical, intellectually stimulating and satisfying experience, that prepares you for life after university.

Our Law Students’ Society prides itself on its deep commitment to social justice and this drives the work that we do. We are committed to adding value to your law degree and enriching your educational, vocational and social experience during your time at law school. Take a look around our website to learn about us, and the activities that we organise.

We seek to provide a wealth of opportunity to you – our members – and have a positive and meaningful impact in our University community and in the communities that support our campuses.

We pride ourselves on being inclusive, future-focused and fearless, and hope that you will find as much value in this as we do.

You have the opportunity to be part of something great. I encourage you all to embrace it, get involved and take advantage of the opportunities that come your way.

Be bold. Be fearless. Be a UOW Law Student.

Welcome to the Law Society!

As your President for 2019, my role is to enhance the student experience of all University of Wollongong Law students across both the Wollongong and South Western Sydney Campuses and add value to your degree.

My role is to facilitate and oversee the events, competitions and extra-curricular activities that will be a most important part of your time at Law School. In addition, I am responsible
for the leadership and overall administration of the Society. Day to day this involves overseeing the activities of all eight portfolios, liaising with you – our members, sponsors, community partners and the University and representing the interests of UOW Law Students on a broader stage.

This year the Society will focus on being Inclusive, Future-Focused and Fearless and it is these objectives that will guide my leadership.
I am in the final year of my Bachelor of Laws (Direct Entry) (Honours) degree and am excited by the prospect of not only finishing, but also of working with you all in 2019.
