Niche External Moots
The LSS has not had a history of participating in more niche external competitions such as moots dedicated to quite particular areas of law or the Hackathon due to limited interest in theses areas. If you have a thirst for a particular area of law or competition type and think you would make an excellent representative for UOW, then please contact Emily at competitions@uowlss.net and Samantha at intervarsity@uowlss.net to discuss how the LSS can support you in pursuing such competitions!
Please use the forms to register your interest for the below external moots. (Click the link on the right)
Administrative Appeals Tribunal Moot
The AAT Moot is held at the AAT in Sydney and covers a range of areas in administrative law, including immigration, social security and freedom of information. Moots are run in the style of AAT hearings, as opposed to court proceedings. Every round of the competition has a new problem question. Some moots are completed over video link to facilitate interstate moots. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the procedural and substantive aspects of merits review.
Applicants: We are seeking students with an intellectual interest in public law. While the content relates to Administrative law, concepts of merits review are accessible to those in all year levels.
