My name is Toni, and I’m a fourth-year law student and the President of the UOWLSS for 2020! My role is to ensure that the UOWLSS provides you with valuable opportunities to enhance your degree, at both the Wollongong and South Western Sydney Campuses. In the coming year, I will be overseeing a vast range of social events, careers-based events and competitions! This year, I am focused on ensuring students can gain skills and connections through the UOWLSS that will allow them to kick-start their career in law.

Hello! I’m Sabrina, the Vice President of Administration for 2020 in the UOWLSS. I’m in my final year of studying a Bachelor of Law. I’m currently undertaking an internship with a local Family Law firm, which has reinforced my end goal of entering into private practice as a Family Lawyer. My role as VP Admin is essential to keep everything running as smoothly as possible. My duties include record-keeping, assisting the President and ensuring the Constitution is being applied correctly. My goal for the VP Admin role is to make sure that you guys feel as involved as possible in critical functions of the UOWLSS. My name is Kaaden, and I’m in my fifth and final year of a Bachelor of Law – Economics and Finance. As your Vice President of Finance, my role is to manage the financial affairs of the Law Students’ Society and maintain detailed, current records of the LSS’s financial position, This requires me to liaise with the President and other portfolios to make sure to ensure funding is available for all the great initiatives coming up throughout the year. My name is Madeleine Joseph and I am your Vice President (Careers) for 2020! I am currently in my fourth year of Bachelor of Law/International studies! As VP Careers, my role is to assist law students by giving them the opportunity to explore career paths within their degree. Along with the Careers Officers, our portfolio will achieve this by planning events such as the Clerkship Q&A, Careers Fair, workshops and a Day at a Firm! This year we are aiming to improve the opportunities and skills for UOW students who are wishing to apply to for summer clerkships or graduate opportunities. Through our facebook page, we will be connecting students from all years to potential career opportunities and further enhance their experience as law students!

Hi, my name is Grace Welsby and I am your VP Education for the 2020 UOWLSS. I have recently completed an international corporate law internship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I am also currently interning at PepsiCo as part of their in-house team. My role as VP Education is to ensure the well-being of all students and ensure they are getting the most out of their degree. The main events in my portfolio include First Year Mentoring, the Women in Law Luncheon and Inspire Evening. It is my aim to have students graduate from UOW as more well-rounded and inspired individuals than when they began their degree. My key focuses for this upcoming year are promoting mental health and diversity. I want all students to feel valued, cared for and seen by the University. It is only when everyone feels valued that we really shine! I am very excited for this upcoming year and hope to bring you some exciting new initiatives!

Hi I’m Taylah! I am your Vice President (Events) of the UOWLSS for the 2020 term and I couldn’t be more excited about it. I am in my final year of Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy & Economics and I am currently working part-time at a law firm in Sydney.

My role is to ensure the mundane tasks and challenges of Law School are balanced by fun, memorable and lively events. This year, the UOWLSS is proud to present to you our: Cocktail Party, Harbour Cruise, First Year Survival Party, HalLAWeen (for the first time ever) and Law Ball.
Social involvement throughout your time at UOW will not only relieve the pressures of study but ultimately, will come together to make some of the best years of your life.

Drinking, dancing and adding to your collection of brazen stories to reminisce when it’s all over “ what’s not to love? You’ve earned it.

CCSG Legal and have built upon organisational skills necessary for my position. In my spare time I DJ and play cricket, helping me stay fit and be creative. My role as VP (External Competitions) is to organise UOWLSS and UOW School of Law organised competitions involving external university teams. I will work to ensure that this year’s Intervarsity Criminal Law Moot continues to grow and improve in size and quality. My name is Aly Jones and I am the First Year Representative at the UOW South-Western Sydney campus in Liverpool. I have just entered into my first year of law studies and I am completing a double degree in Laws / International Studies. My role as First Year Representative is to reflect the views of my first year peers to the Law Students’ Society, but also to be a point of contact if there are any issues or concerns at the SWS campus. I am your mature age student representative I am currently in my third year of Bachelor of laws. My interest are family and corporate law. I came back to University as a mature age student and so I understand the challenges that students may face returning to University after so many years away from any type of educational institution.
Mature age students may feel like they may not fit, being a lot older than most student, however speaking from my experience here at UOW, everyone has been fantastic. Us oldies can learn a thing or two from the young students and vice versa.
My role Is to represent mature age students,  raise any concerns students may have , bring ideas to the table to improve study life for students who make be juggling between study and life commitments.

As Equity Officer, I am committed to ensuring and promoting equitable opportunities for everyone. My name is Liam Webb and I am a Competitions Officer for 2020 in the UOWLSS. I am in my fourth year of my Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Economics and Finance degrees, and I have a strong interest in both commercial law and finance. I am passionate about mooting, and in 2019 I was part of UOW’s team that won the Allens UTS Intervarsity Legal Technology Moot.
I think that involvement in academic competitions at university is one of the best extracurricular activities for a law student’s development and I would encourage everyone to get involved!

My name is Jamie Coleman and I am one of your Comps Officers in 2020. Ive been studying Law and International Studies since 2017, and in that time have competed in (almost) every competition the LSS has to offer! Im very excited to work with our Competitions team in 2020, and to encourage all of our up and coming mooters, witness examinators, and negotiators.
This year Im thrilled to have joined the team at Foye as a law clerk. This means that between studying, working and volunteering for the LSS, I have very little time thats not consumed by law. I like to fill these rare moments with cheerleading, yoga and volunteering for Relay for Life Nowra.
