  • Second Year Representative WOL
  • Second Year Representative SWS
  • Mature Age Representative
  • SWS Marketing Officer
  • SWS Education Officer

To nominate yourself for any of the positions complete the form below. You may nominate for multiple positions however you must complete a separate form for each nomination.

Positions Available

South West Sydney Positions

In addition to their committee roles, all South West Sydney Committee Members will have the opportunity to service on the South West Sydney Sub-Committee which will focus on issues of the SWS campus and opportunities for SWS students.

Second Year Representative SWS

The representatives will act as a conduit between their associated students and the Society. Year Representatives will be responsible for assisting all portfolios in project groups; this may be by rotation of year representatives through portfolios or generally by Executive resolution. Year Representatives will also be responsible for bringing to the attention of the Committee and Executive issues, concerns, or happenings in their respective years, as well as reporting on their opinions on their years’ attitudes and views of the Society.

To nominate for this position you must be in your second year of enrollment in a law degree at the University of Wollongong South West Sydney Campus.

SWS Marketing Officer

The role of the SWS Marketing Officer is to ensure that all UOWLSS events and initiatives are suitably promoted to the SWS cohort and on the SWS campus.

To nominate for this position you must be enrolled in a law degree at the University of Wollongong South West Sydney Campus.

SWS Education Officer

The role of the South Western Sydney Education Officer will chiefly involve organising education-based initiatives at SWS and facilitating a collaborative approach to delivering Education portfolio initiatives across campuses.

To nominate for this position you must be enrolled in a law degree at the University of Wollongong South West Sydney Campus.

Other Positions

Second Year Representative WOL

The representatives will act as a conduit between their associated students and the Society. Year Representatives will be responsible for assisting all portfolios in project groups; this may be by rotation of year representatives through portfolios or generally by Executive resolution. Year Representatives will also be responsible for bringing to the attention of the Committee and Executive issues, concerns, or happenings in their respective years, as well as reporting on their opinions on their years’ attitudes and views of the Society.

To nominate for this position you must be in your second year of enrollment in a law degree at the University of Wollongong, Wollongong Campus.

Mature Age Representative

The Mature Age and Postgraduate Representative will act as a conduit between their associated students and the Society. The Mature Age and Postgraduate Representative will represent the interests of Mature Age and Postgraduate students at Faculty Meetings or external representative meetings if directed to by the President or the Vice President (Education). The Mature Age and Postgraduate Representative will coordinate initiatives for the benefit of Mature Age and Postgraduate students, and assist in the publication of such events.

To nominate for this position you must be either enrolled in a postgraduate law degree or have commenced an undergraduate law degree after the age of 21.

Election Procedure

South West Sydney Positions

As per the new UOWLSS Constitution Clause 3.3.9 these positions are voted on in a separate election in which only SWS members may vote. This election will take place online. Nominations will close Friday 20  March 2020. Information on all candidates will be published as soon as practical after nominations close. Voting will open Monday 23 March and will close Friday 27 March. If only one nomination is received a motion to elect the nominee will be voted on by the Committee on Wednesday 25 March 2020.

During the election all candidates must conduct themselves in a manner allowed by the Constitution. Candidates must not publicly campaign before the release of the election guide. The President or their nominee may make fair determinations necessary for the running of the election and the conduct of the candidates. The President or their nominee may disqualify a candidate for improper conduct. All decision are appealable to the Committee of the UOWLSS. Requests to review the ballots must be made within 24 hours of the announcement of the result, by email, to the President or their nominee.

Other Positions

These positions were not filled at the 2019 elections and as such they are filled by a vote of the Committee. Nominations close Friday 20 March 2020. The vote will occur on Wednesday 25 March 2020. You will be invited to give a short speech in support of your nomination for the position, if you are unable to attend your election statement will be read. If only one nomination is received a motion to elect the nominee will be voted on by the Committee at the meeting.
